A Day At The Beach

An early morning stroll on the beach trumps a day at the gym.

The weather in Ocean City, Maryland this morning was overcast.

The ocean mist masked the high-rises in the background.

Shortly after 9 a.m., the clouds started to break

Big waves started to roll in.

The remains of a tiny sand crab lie on the sand.

That's my brother Michael cleaning the windows of his condominium in the 9400 Condominium. Yes, he actually took out the entire window.

Mike's cleaning the other window. By the time I made it back, he put me to work running the vacuum cleaner. Work: it's in our blood, and we like it that way.

The sun started to make an appearance around 9:30 a.m.

Auction in The Country

Why do you have to dig through old boxes to find Uncle Sam?

 He's no longer hanging around.

Spring in All Its Glory

We've been blessed with an early dose of warm weather this March, and I gladly welcome it. The earlier, the better. The weather reminds me of springtime in Knoxville.

The birds are chirping a bit louder, buds are sprouting, and nature's taking its course. The greens of spring always take on a very bright glow.

These yellows are magnificent.

Even the color white takes on different hues this time of year.

This is spring in all its glory.

Junkin' at Kemler's Auction

Auction night at Kemler's Auctions in Bloomsburg is always a treat. You never know what you'll come across. Is that a little leprechaun I see? I didn't even notice that little figurine when I snapped the picture. I was originally intrigued by the framed artwork.

That's a bright yellow!

I'm guessing this is a portrait of Scarlet and Rhett Butler. Any other guesses?

I love that little, plastic kitty. The toy revolver resembles a Smith & Wesson 317 .22LR Air Lite. The scruffy dog in the back of the picture looks like he can use a good home.

~Cherries, lemons, and limes~

There were plenty of seats available during the preview.

Here's a better picture of that lovely landscape painting. Check out all the Native American collectibles. Neat!

I love the cut on this Eisenhower jacket. Now I'm picturing both Generals Eisenhower and Patton and how sharp they always looked in photographs.

The Color of Junk

While sifting through box lots at the Berlin Farmer's Market this weekend, I was captivated by all the colors. These chintzy medals cast a golden glow and seemed to provide a natural background for all the other colors sporadically strewn throughout the box.

I see cerulean blue and midnight blue in this box. Mint green and sap green make an appearance as well.

This imitation milk glass is white, but when you look at the photograph, you can see hints of gray and a bit of green.

I was looking at the costume jewelry when Johnny Boy snapped my picture. Look at that bright blue bangle! It jumps right off the table.

You can't give away old insulators, but I've always admired the green insulators. I always see viridian green when I'm looking at them.

Discarded metal objects create a mix of gray, blue, gold, and copper.

The deep, rich blue of the dish is a stark contrast to all the metal found in this box.

Here's Johnny doing what he loves best:  junking in New Jersey. The dark, blue containers play off the light, blue sky.
