Olde Time Christmas in Jim Thorpe

With five minutes to spare, we made it to the gingerbread display and contest yesterday at Dimmick Memorial Library in Jim Thorpe to vote for our favorite gingerbread display.

All gingerbread houses were unique, but this one really stood out.Using the Bible as a base, the manger was our favorite.

Look closely in the center attic window.

Santa overlooks Broadway. He was here in August too.

Trolls Invade The Anthracite!

What a fantastic weekend to paint windows at the Anthracite Newstand in Wilkes-Barre! This year's theme is Trolls.

Thanks to all the folks at the Anthracite for keeping me entertained throughout the day. I heard a little bit of Dwight Yoakam and Wynonna Judd on the jukebox in the morning. Then I was listening to a few SEC football games throughout the day.

I knew I did my job when a little girl asked her grandmother to take a picture of her in front of this window. So cute!

On another note, if you want good brownies, stop by the Anthracite. They're delicious!

Have a Troll-filled Christmas!

Chance Meeting Today With A True Hero

Thank you for your service, Colonel West!

Coming from a military family, what an honor it was today to meet Lt. Colonel Allen West as I was leaving work today. I couldn't believe my eyes as I saw Colonel West walking as I was waiting for the light to turn green. A gracious man, he encouraged me to park my car so that we could snap a few pictures. He was kind enough to also speak with my boyfriend on the phone.

Wow! What are the chances of meeting a military hero?

Painted Fire Hydrant

The city of Pittston, PA is enlisting the help of artists to paint all of the fire hydrants in the city.  Since they were looking for an artist who specializes in patriotic artwork, I was invited to paint a fire hydrant next to the Pittston, PA Post Office.

When I was a kid, I always loved (no pun intended) The LOVE stamp, which was designed by pop artist Robert Indiana. Here's my own take on that iconic postage stamp.

I love this color orange. It's very Volunteer orange. Go VOLS!
